BPharm(Hon), PhD, DSc, Personal Chair Neuropharmacology (1969-1984 University of Bradford). As Head of Neuropharmacology Research worked across Europe, USA and Japan linking Academia and Industry in Drug Discovery (successes include Sulpiride for schizophrenia and Zofran for cancer Chemotherapy). Successfully supervised 63 PhD students, published 317 refereed papers, 54 book chapters, 318 refereed conference proceedings. Raised £8M+ for research at Bradford. From 1990 as Deputy Vice Chancellor created three pharmaceutical spin-off companies, the first selling for $200M. As DVC responsible for £80M budget, 10,000+ students and 2000 staff. Carried out high profile work for the Funding Council, Government Office and professional bodies. Retired 2007 and concentrated on consultancy and accreditation of courses with key elements of Pharmacology. Accredited courses with RPSGB. PSI, and equivalent in Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Belgium. Joined BPS in 1972. Deputy Chair and Chair of CHOP and served 2 terms on the Finance and Risk Committee. Other work prevented her taking on the role of Honorary Treasurer. Pharmacology has always been at the heart of her work.
